 School Organisation

There are 7 classes in the school, three in Key Stage One (Infants) and four in Key Stage Two (Juniors).  We have an excellent group of teachers, backed up by superb support staff, who are dedicated and committed to giving the children the best possible start to their education.

Children may be grouped by ability within the class or on occasions they may join children from other classes. Children are assessed in accordance with statutory requirements at 7 and 11 and during the reception year (age 4-5) they are assessed by means of the Foundation Stage Profile.

There is a continuous process of assessment throughout each child’s career at the school.  These assessments help the teacher plan the next stages of your child’s education.  The results of assessments are made known to parents and can be discussed with class teachers and the Head teacher.

Whilst the majority of children transfer to Angley School in Cranbrook at 11, a significant number transfer to schools in Tunbridge Wells, Maidstone and Tenterden.  A number achieve scholarships to independent schools. Parents are able to gain advice from the Head teacher when considering the most suitable secondary school for their child.

The School Day

Travel Plan actively promotes walking to school.  There is an ongoing drive with our Walk on Wednesday campaign to get as many children walking as possible.

There will be a teacher on duty in the playground from 8.40 am, so parents can leave their children from then onwards.
